about the artist

Kirstin Rigby is one of the latest names to hit the New Jersey/New York underground art scene.  Rigby is a painter whose approach is fresh and alive. Rigby says “It’s an abstract graffiti inspired style, infused with 1980’s throwback icons all with an underlying “pro-earth” message.

“My work has been described as having delicate under layers, while exuding energy and life”

"I just need to create and I will never stop"
Rigby works in a range of media; acrylic, oil, screen prints, watercolors, and collage.   Residing in Morristown, NJ Kirstin is opening a company called  The Painted Brick where she will showcase her paintings as well as her one of a kind hand printed shirts and accessories.  When people look at my work they are drawn into the depth of my paintings often asking how did you do that, is it painted, drawn, printed?

Kirstin is currently working on a new line of hand printed shirts called the Dumpstar line for The Painted Brick.  The line will feature her hand drawn original designs; no work is done on the computer.  Rigby thinks it is important to preserve the art of drawing. The customer will feel closer to the artist when the work is hand drawn/printed.

Rigby put herself through college studying Fine Art Education at Montclair State University.  She is now teaching art full time, and getting her Masters Degree in Studio-Painting.  Rigby has participated in several shows including the Verbal Graffiti rooftop show in Brooklyn NY.  Rigby has worked with Day in the Lyfe Graffiti Magazine and merged designs with Hypothesis Inc. clothing company. Rigby also participated in Art Battles showcase show down. In the future Rigby hopes to headline several gallery shows and release a web store for her apparel.  She also has plans to start The Painted Brick Magazine.

The Painted Brick is a company that believes in preserving the arts and creating quality work.  Kirstin Rigby is bringing back the lost art of art with a contemporary twist.
